.mp3s of the Week! Tasha-Yar and more!

Actually this post should just be called "Music of the Week" because two of these aren't .mp3s, and one of these isn't even local. That said, let's start off with a great new (to me anyway) heavy psychedelic band called Tasha-Yar. My understanding is that they former members of U.S. Christmas, and that they are from somewhere in the mountains. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of North Carolina geography, but I have no clue where Mackory Falls is.

Next up is "Frontier Justice," the first single from the album of the same name by Embarrassing Fruits. Trekky Records is releasing the album on Sept. 21, and has released some information on their blog. Here's a video of "Frontier Justice":

Finally, if you're into classic Krautrock, and in the mood to travel in the next couple of weeks, Neu! mastermind Michael Rother will be playing a few U.S. shows (including  ATP, which is being curated by Jim Jarmusch, on Sept. 4) under the name Hallogallo with Sonic Youth's Steve Shelley among others. The band will be playing the music of Neu! as well as songs by Harmonia and some of Rother's solo works. These dates are to celebrate the Gronland label's vinyl-only release of Neu!'s entire discography including . Pitchfork had a good article on this release a few months ago. Check out the stream of "Crazy" from "Neu! 86."
