.mp3s of the week: Superchunk, Embarrassing Fruits and more!

This week's batch of .mp3s starts off with Superchunk, who will release their latest, "Majesty Shredding," on Sept. 14. But the real big news here is that the band will be on Jimmy Fallon on Sept. 20, their first TV appearance since 1994! Here's "Digging for Something" from the new CD.

Next up is the new single from Embarrassing Fruits, whose CD "Frontier Justice" will be out on Trekky Records on Sept. 17. Their CD-release show is Sept. 17 at Duke Coffeehouse with Lonnie Walker and Midtown Dickens.

My final local .mp3 is from Heads on Sticks, a synth-heavy new project by Dave Mueller (Birds of Avalon, Strange). This is from the new CD, "Mocking Bird" which Dave recorded himself, and which will be out on Aug. 31. Heads on Sticks will play the New Raleigh party at Tir na Nog on Nov. 11, and Dave himself will also be DJing.

Now I want to include a couple of songs by bands who aren't local, and who aren't going to be touring here anytime soon, simply because I like both these bands. LA space-metal group Ancestors has been on repeat on my ipod for about a week now. TFW (click the link to find out what their name means) remind me of my current favorite band, Black Tusk. Check them both out!
