12 Days of Avett

Yeah, it's pretty much what it sounds like. The Avett Brothers are giving away something for the next 10 days (we're already on day 2). Today's special is the dust fuzzer from the "Slight Figure of Speech" video. If day 2 is already this exciting, I can't wait to see what they dig up and throw online for day 12. In other Avetts news, Paste has declared "I and Love and You" to be the top album of the year!.

Avetts to release video series

Avett Brothers fans have a special treat coming Tuesday. According to a release:

You all have been asking about the video footage from our Bojangles North Carolina show...
and we are now ready to roll it out, in a very special way.

We have for you 13 video pieces, each dedicated to a song off our new album, which we will be giving to you one chapter at a time.

Check our website for all the details, including information on Tuesday's premiere of Chapter 1!

Why is this suddenly making me think of "Trapped in the Closet"?

New Avetts -- a play by play of their new CD

The Indy and New Raleigh collaborate in a double tweet-fest as Grayson and Jed listened to an unfinished version of the Avett Brothers' "I and Love and You." Is it just me, or would an actual .mp3 from the album helped this narrative along?

Scott Avett featured in new East magazine

Thought I'd pass this along, since I'm sure your average Avett Brothers fan doesn't normally get the ECU alumni magazine.

Avetts to open for Dave Matthews in April

OK, this post from Paste Magazine is mostly about Dave Matthews, and you know I really couldn't care less about him, but if you read a little further, it says the Avett Brothers are playing several shows on the upcoming tour, including one at the Time Warner Cable Pavilion (that's Walnut Creek to us old-schoolers)on April 22.

Video from the Avett Brothers' Halloween show in Greensboro

Believe it or not, Friday was my very first time seeing the Avett Brothers. After witnessing their high-energy, crowd-slaying performance, I'm pretty sorry I never saw them during their club days at Kings. Oh well, better late than never.

The crowd really got into Halloween, but no one had better costumes than the Avetts themselves who came out in military uniforms. Seth was Army, Scott Navy, Bob Air Force and Joe Marines.

I had fairly good seats, but the hall was so big, that it didn't really translate into good video. The sound on these videos is very low and echoey. For completists only.

More photos here.

Seth announced this as a new song. Maybe someone out there knows more about it.

Avett Brothers sign with American, record with Rick Rubin

Just got this on myspace:

To our dearest fans,

Since we first performed as The Avett Brothers,we have been fortunate enough to find and build a genuine and mutual respect with those who care to listen. It is this kind exchange that champions our music, and allows us the forum to continue on our path, with this work, this art. We believe this to be an appropriate time for a brief update,as we would like for you all to know of the most noteworthy of present developments.

We have recently begun working on a new full length album with Rick Rubin. The recording process has been, and will no doubt continue to be,an experience defined by heightened levels of commitment and conviction. It is our distinct pleasure and honor to be in such fine company as we build and bring this most current chapter of songs to fruition.

With this union has come another,as we have just completed and signed an agreement with American/Columbia Records, the label with whom we will proudly release our next record. It is our sincere hope, in regard to this news, that our ongoing relationship with Ramseur Records is understood. There have been, and will be no hard feelings or abandon-based resentment from either party involved. The Avett and Ramseur camps remain strongly and truthfully connected, both personally and professionally. There has been no change in these matters through this momentous transition.

For all of you who have gone to such great lengths to show your appreciation,we continue in our most sincere efforts to return the sentiment. The music would go nowhere without you. Our hearts and our minds are on the recording of this next album, and we look forward with great anticipation to sharing it with you all. Until then, thank you as always, and we will see you somewhere on that open road...

Sincerely,
The Avett Brothers
