Here are a few photos from the Friday (Aug. 31) show with Sinister Haze, Demon Eye and Horseskull at the Maywood. As always, I enjoyed both Demon Eye and Horseskull, but I really got into Sinister Haze, who are from Richmond and include members of Cough. They'll be at the Autumn Screams Doom festival next month.

Check out Bedowyn's new EP

Raleigh band stoner/doom band Bedowyn has a new EP, which you can check out here. The band's next confirmed show is at Fuzz Fest at Snug Harbor in Charlotte on Sept. 14. Will post more dates as they are confirmed. Looking forward to seeing these guys.

Batillus releases really creepy first video

Brooklyn industrial doom outfit Batillus have released their first ever video, and it's just about as creepy as you would expect. The song is "Concrete" from the album Concrete Sustain, which was released earlier this year.

New music Tuesday: Windhand and Corrections House

"Orchard," the second single (and opening song) from Windhand's excellent upcoming album Soma is now streaming at a few locations, including NPR, Stereogum and Invisible Oranges. The album comes out Sept. 17, and is already being hailed as a possible album of the year.

Also, "Run Through the Night," the latest from Corrections House (Mike IX Williams, Eyehategod; Scott Kelly, Neurosis; Bruce Lamont, Yakuza; Sanford Parker, Minsk) is now streaming at German blog Noisey/Vice. The album Last City Zero will be released on Neurot on Oct. 29.

Here are a few photos from Greensboro's Mourning Cloak and Chapel Hill's Solar Halos from Thursday's (Aug. 14) show at Chapel Hill Underground. Bitter Resolve and Curtains of Night also played, but I had to make an early evening of it. I hadn't shot video in a while and decided to get footage of Mourning Cloak. If you like what you hear, they'll be at the Maywood for an early show tomorrow night. More details here. Solar Halos will be on the bill with Sleep at Hopscotch.  See more photos.
