I also like what Ross White has to say about Nike's co-opting an iconic Minor Threat image for a new campaign.

Thanks, Karen. I have to admit that I'm stewing about this one... a designer I really respect posted about Nike being in the right to appropriate the image. (Todd Morman also defended the action on the alt.music.chapelhill list...)
Basic argument: if we want the freedom to work as artists ourselves, we must grant it to the evil giant conglomerates who will profit generously from that artistic freedom.
I suppose I am as much an iconoclast as anyone, but it still peeves me that the corporate giants can steal with impunity from such a stolidly anti-corporate voice as Dischord. Man, that would be like Hollywood illegally downloading internal files from the EFF.
Harumph harumph harumph. Anyhow, thanks for the link... just discovered your blog as a result!
